A shoe with hydraulic pumps, while having the same feel as walking on sneakers. Or a wooden block that turns out to be an amazing pair of shoes (watch the way it opens and closes). The Art Academies are showing their graduates, watch the following Shoe Masters give us a sight for sore eyes.
It’s june again, all the graduates of the different Art & Design Academy’s are showing their talent. As a huge shoe fan, I love Heavy Machine, United Nude and WXY. I am always looking around for intriguing Shoe Design Talent.
As always the London College of Fashion graduates gives me a lot to look at.
Hollie Amber White (her label is named Ellis
White) is a shoe label with a focus on
material innovation and experimental production processes, so her website
states.
For her graduation she worked on the
collection Leather Composites.
The collection takes a more sustainable
approuch as it re-uses bi products and waste from production.
An example (but watching the video is more fun)
is she use little pieces of leather as a filling product for the heels. So the
heels and the soles of the shoes are
partly leather. This technic she uses in her sun-glasses and her bags as well.
Silvia Fado Morena takes a whole different approach, with her collection Kinetic Traces. She makes the ultimate comfortable heels. Her heels have hydraulic pumps, they are made from leather and rubbery bals and look alienic. But they should give you complete comfort, like walking in shoe-heaven.
Morena says: “I wanted to create real art that is still functional by combining high tech and craft,” “The most difficult part was to ensure the shoes were comfortable and stable while walking.”
